MTV MAMA

OMG, I'm so excited as the days countdown to the MTV awards to be held in Lagos, Nigeria. To live the experience first hand, feel the rush of adrenaline, see the celebrities live................it goes on and on. Can't wait for Dec 11th.
Hmmm, what to wear!!!! thinking, cracking my head.....hmmm, it has to be right. A lot of people, even celebrities get it wrong. The trick is to balance sophistication with sexiness. Few like Gwen Stefani and Eva Longoria Parker have pulled it off nicely.

With just a month to go, I have to hit the stores and get something to wear. I hope I can pull it off like 'em too.   Let's see how it goes. i won't let you down guys, trust me. Tada
Oh, I'll be sure to post pics.

How to Create Your Own Unique Style

In the words of Mary Quant- 'the fashionable woman wears clothes. The clothes don't wear her'. A truly fashionable woman is one who does not follow trends and is not a fashion victim. Instead, she personalises her clothes and look, to fit her style and personality.
Your style should express the real YOU on the inside. In order to find your style and be truly unique, there are a few fashion misconceptions to avoid.

Misconception no1-' To truly look great in your clothes, you must maintain a model's figure'.   NOT TRUE
Your fashion ideal should be you at your best, well dressed despite your body size.

Misconception no2- 'You must wear the must-haves of every season'.   NOT TRUE
'Fashion is architecture, it's just a matter of proportions'- Gabrielle Coco Chanel. Wear clothes that fit your proportions.

Misconception no3- 'Ready to wear is actually ready to wear'.   NOT TRUE
To have great personal style, wear clothes that REALLY fit. Ask a tailor to make alterations on clothes so as to have a perfect fit. The cut has to fit the body and flatter the shape and size.

Overall, clothes, hair and makeup must work together for a woman's best style to emerge.

Remember ladies, your style should express the real you on the inside. So find your style and master the art of expressing yourself through clothes.

Cheap and Chic

Not everyone of us can afford a top-to-toe designer ensemble ( I can't). The solution- Cheap and Chic. Be  eclectic, creative, innovative.
  • Get thrifty- trawl op shops, vintage boutiques and markets for one-off finds.  You save money that way.

  • Customize- everyone’s got a needle and thread! Update old pieces with a few quick snips, a bit of hemming or by adding embellishments such as sequins or tassels. You can also do this with op-shop finds that may have amazing patterns or detailing but an out-dated cut.

  •  Be inspired- if you are not confident in pulling together an outfit by yourself, look to some photos of celebrities or street style blogs such as The Sartorialist or Facehunter. You can get a good idea of what proportions work and which garments look good together, then go searching for inexpensive replicas.

  •  Rattle your chains - It is a good idea to buy all the current- but-unlikely-to-endure trends from chains stores.
  •   Invest in classics-  if you want to buy designer, buy items that won’t become out-dated.  Cashmere sweaters, black shoulder bags, trenches, etc.
  •  Dress for your body and yourself- at the end of the day, if you’re wearing something that fits you and that you love, you’re always going to look beautiful most of the time.
Keep it real guys. Tada
